Damaging My Calm

I did this look quite a while ago - before I started doing full face shots - and haven't gotten around to posting it till now. I've done some dramatic colourful looks in the past couple of days that I want to get up, but I didn't have time this morning. I dropped my mp3 player in a cup of coffee (don't even ask, I swear the universe guided it in there D:) so this morning was a bit of a mess. I've submerged it in rice and hope to god it works to draw out the moisture. I have the money to buy a new mp3 player but I'd just rather not, y'know?

But on a more positive note, I have the ball tonight! I ended up buying black and gold lashes and plan to do a coordinating look with them. Hopefully I can get a few decent photos of the look, because I'll be getting ready at a friend's house and won't have my usual set up. I'm excited to get my drink on after getting assessment results (did well but not quite as good as I'd have liked) and the fiasco with my mp3 player.

Easy Operator

Here's a simple look I did using Vegas, Ruse and Swamped from Concrete Minerals. Ruse wasn't quite deep enough to use as a crease shade on my skintone, so I deepened it up a bit with some MAC neutrals. I thought it was a nice summery look to go with the intense heat we've been having here lately, but the green made it slightly different from the typical neutral-with-a-pop-of-turquoise :P

I used my MAC To The Beach Creme Bronzer in Weekend as a base for my Maybelline Mineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach. I originally wanted a peachy nude lip but it looked a bit odd so I ended up going with my default NYX Megashine Lipgloss in Smokey Look ;]

I'll be switching back to UDPP now that it's heating up here in Australia, because my Concrete primer has been causing creasing. I thought it would be too creamy for the heat here, and the fact that I'm kind of a big sweaty man doesn't help either :P

In other news OH MY GOD an Illamasqua counter opens near me today! I'm going to go stare at it with a friend after class this morning ^____^

Somebody Mixed My Medicine

ETA: I no longer recommend High Voltage Cosmetics in any way, shape or form. 

Here's a quick look I did with High Voltage Cosmetics the other day. I was quite happy with the look, but unfortunately I didn't have much time to take photos :( I liked the versatility that the colour combo offered - I usually think peachy cheeks and lips compliment green eye looks best, but the purple on the lid meant that pink lips/cheeks could work too. But this is me we're talking about, so of course I opted for peachy tones XD

So I have a ball that I'm going to on Friday night, which is basically just a classier opportunity for everyone to get smashed at the open bar. I want to do a dramatic yet bright monochromatic eye look with false lashes, and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. I'm wearing all black so I'm not bothered with clashing colours, but I know I don't want to do a bold lip since I'm likely to be sloshed and unable to touch up throughout the night ;]

I may end up buying colourful lashes and basing the look around that, but I'm open to suggestions!

I Hate Clubbing

I had a pretty casual interview for work experience at uni the other day, and this is the look I wore. It was an informal interview and I was going to be wearing my glasses, so it didn't matter that it was a bit too heavy. I definitely wouldn't wear the same look for a graduate job interview! I also really wanted to use MAC Club, because it's such an unpredictable shadow. You can get different results each time you use it - like here I've got it in the crease and built it up slightly to show the green duochrome, and it's also on the lower lashline over a green base. Such a cool colour :D

The interview went pretty well, though I fumbled a couple of the vague "tell us about a time you had a problem/conflict...." questions. But on the plus side I was the only candidate that day who had actually bothered to research what the organisation does, so I hope that gives me lots of brownie points XD

Concrete Minerals Swatches Pt. 2

I ordered 4 more samples from Concrete Minerals as a treat to myself after completing some awfully stressful uni assessment last week. I ordered Prude, Detox, Ruse and Swamped under their 'Buy 4 for $9.99 deal'. I've been wanting some sort of pinky highlighter for a while, and I'm a sucker for golds and bronzes, so of course I had to get Prude and Ruse. I saw Swamped in the shop and bought it hoping it'd be a better version of MAC Humid, and I pretty much just got Detox since Jade loves it so much. Now that you've heard my life story, onto ze swatches!

Born To Bleed

I had a presentation at uni the other day on MAC Cosmetics and felt like I could get away with some moderately bright eye makeup. I bought Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Gash a couple of weeks ago, and have been dying to do a metallic red eye with it ever since, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. ^__^ I quite liked it, though some of the black liner from my upper waterline migrated to settle on the white.

I wish I'd had a creamy highlight shade with really strong red sparks for the inner corner, but I made do with SN Sonic :( Although the entire time I was wishing I had Satan's Sheets by Glamour Doll Eyes.

If you can ignore how obscenely shiny I am for a second, the cheeks were a tiny bit of MAC Blushbaby, and lips were Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in Asia with  Spell Cosmetics lipgloss in Nostalgic on top.

I was pretty confident with doing the actual speech, since I somehow have gotten to the point where public speaking doesn't bother me anymore (wish I'd felt like that during high school!) I was mainly just worried about the tutor asking us random questions where I'd get flustered and wouldn't know how to articulate the answer. Luckily it was the complete opposite and he actually said it was "really good" which means a lot coming from him XD

Spirited.

Energy

I wore this makeup for a group presentation the other day at uni. Given that we were somewhat dressed up, I didn't think the tutor would appreciate my usual brightass eye makeup, so I settled for something slightly more toned down. Slightly. We were doing a theoretical sales pitch to an existing company, and that company's colours are green and blue so I went with that :)

I swear I don't reach for that NYX gloss half as much as it seems!

Blush looks really heavy and obvious here but didn't look that way in real life.

I hacked off some of my fringe and upper layers in the bathroom the other night, and weirdly enough it now looks like I have more hair :| I have to go back and cut the rest of it but I'm a bit lazy.

Revisited: Island Azaleas

I wanted to do another look using the Providence and Grace samples Lorraine sent me, and unintentionally ended up redoing the Island Azaleas look that I did in April. I've always meant to recreate that look because I was unhappy with how light the colours photographed, so this was a nice little surprise. :) It's a bit different because of the yellow and the red, but is still very similar.

Cheeks were mostly the light shimmery pink in the bottom left hand corner of the 28 blush palette with a bit of the Physicians Formula Wet/Dry Baked Blush in Baked Berry because I couldn't make up my mind. Lips were Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Pink In The Afternoon with a sheer pink Mirenesse gloss on top.

* shades are repackaged. I believe Pineapple is TKB Lemon Drop Pop, Tangerine is probably TKB Tangerine Pop and Royal is most likely TKB Grape Pop. Not sure what the others are, but Candy Corn is very similar to Tangerine.

Alkaline

Something is wrong with me. I didn't have much time to do my makeup on Wednesday but still wanted a bit of colour, so of course I opted for a neon look. But not just a neon look, a bloody matte neon look. How does that even make sense? On a regular day I'd have just opted for a gold-and-some-other-colour look, but I had to be annoying and try working with neon mattes XD

Didn't get many good photos because I was in a rush, and my face decided to be really unphotogenic. The crease isn't as blended as I'd like, and one of the creases looks considerably darker than the other but it wasn't noticeable in person. :)

Hearts & Tarts

I wanted to do a look using some of the Providence and Grace samples that Lorraine gifted to me, so of course my eyes were immediately drawn to the bright red and I decided to do a firey look :) I also wanted an opportunity to try out MAC Goldmine and Urban Decay Liquid Liner in Gash, which I recently bought from ACW. It was also my first time trying out the BYS cream shadow too! I didn't realise it was a look with so many "firsts" at the time. XD

I'm so bummed, I seem to have lost the BYS cream shadow between now and when I used it :( It was only a couple of dollars so I can easily repurchase it, but that was the first time I'd used it! I've hunted high and low in my room, so at this point I can only hope it shows up somewhere random in a couple of weeks. -  FUCKING FOUND IT OMG. It's called BYS Shine Stick Eye Shadow and doesn't have a shade name, so I'll call it Light Gold.

* Providence and Grace shadows are repackaged. If you can figure out which TKB shadow this is I highly recommend getting it, because it's absolutely beautiful. It's a true metallic red that doesn't immediately rub down to a nice rust colour, but can be achieved with a bit of blending.
