Deadfall

If you give my blog even a cursory glance, you'll have noticed my new found love for smokey shades. Sometime during this year a lightbulb went off in my brain, and I decided I didn't hate smokey shades anymore. A year ago they terrified me, and I wouldn't have used them without dedicating an extra hour to perfecting my blending and ensuring I didn't fuck it up. As a result, smokey eyes were a look I relegated to fancy nights out with my friends.

Though I'm much more confident with smokey eyes now, I still fuck them up. I tend to over-blend and wind up with a muddy crease, looking like I injected black eyeshadow into my brow hair follicles. Not a nice look. I've tried applying my highlight first and blending into that, but for some reason I munt that up too. The other week I thought 'hey, what if I apply a lighter shade in the same colour family to my crease first, then use the darker shade to deepen the crease?' and this look was born. The sparkles threw my camera off so I didn't get many good shots, but I hope you get the idea.

I used the teal shade in the Sleek Curious palette widely in the crease, and deepened it using the blackened olive colour. I was really pleased with the result, and it took no time at all! It helps that the Sleek colours pretty much blend themselves. Ideally I would've used MAC Sumptuous Olive to avoid tinting my crease teal, but I wanted to work exclusively with the Sleek Curious palette :)

In other news, I threw this post up because I wanted a break from my hauling. I'm getting exhausted just looking at all the haul posts I have coming up, and I'm only posting them every other day! Would you guys like to see me post hauls every single day until I'm out of them, or every other day with a FOTD in between?
